Sir John Holt was a prominent figure in English jurisprudence, known for his legal innovations and impact on the common law. This extensive, three-volume work documents many cases he presided over, addressing topics of assault, bail, debt, fines, murder, property disputes, trials, and more. Through these cases, we gain valuable historical insight into the development of English common law. Many of the legal principles established by Holt remain fundamental to the justice system today. However, some have been overturned by later statutes or court decisions. This book offers an excellent starting point for anyone seeking to examine the foundational principles of common law originating from the late 1600s/early 1700s. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
