The text taking the form of an illuminated manuscript by Ibbs, lithographed in green, blue, black, and gilt by McLagan & Cumming of Edinbu…rgh, incorporating decorative borders and initial capitals, a miniature of a choir to the frontispiece, and another of a child riding a bat to the half-title page and the first initial capital. [35]pp. A very good copy, the binding secure with a little rubbing to the joints and dust-soiling to the parchment boards. The contents with a little cracking between pp.[10-11] and some light foxing to the endpapers are otherwise in very good order. A beautiful edition of the songs from Shakespeare's plays, forming a vividly lithographed version of an illuminated manuscript by the artist, illuminator and calligrapher Edith Anne Ibbs (1862-1937).
