He was an Ame…rican of French extraction who went to Santa Fe and Taos and was involved in trading furs and horses. Later joined the American "Army of the West" under Stephen Watts Kearney in the U.S. war with Mexico as an interpreter. His brother was an important early landowner of Riverside; Mount Robidoux is named for him.
