In this black & white photograph, Ms. O'Sullivan is reclining in shadows, wearing something tied at her neck, her eyes are closed. Back of the postcard reads:"Maureen O'Sullivan; Laszlo Willinger (1937); [Copyright] Kobal Collection; Black & Whites Gallery; 50-52 Monmouth Street, London WC2H 9DG.; 1115" The year is a guess on my part. The gallery is currently an Italian restaurant.

Vintage original 10 x 13" (25 x 32 cm.) black-and-white double weight glossy silver gelatin photo. Soiling on verso edge right and bottom, about fine. Ann Rutherford poses in a suit designed by Dolly Tree. Tree designed many of the MGM lady stars' wardrobes for contemporary stories. This one, about a young newlywed, required Rutherford to pose for styles to be used in newspaper and magazine fashion layouts. The printed blurb on verso refers to this suit as something a young woman must budget for when she plans to marry, this being a suit which will not "bulge her budget". Of course, few brides at the time could afford a custom-made couture suit by Dolly Tree. It appears that photographer László Willinger (his ink stamp on verso) posed Rutherford on location during a late-California afternoon.

As the original blurb typed on verso indicates, he was in the midst of filming Waterloo Bridge with Vivien Leigh and Escape with Norma Shearer. Taylor was the top romantic lead paired with many of the MGM star actresses. Ink stamped by photographer László Willinger.

Nearly all were packaged as "figure studies" for the artist/photographer, especially in the US. Nos. 3, 4, 5, 8 (Laszlo Willinger credit rc, perhaps the most important issue). Good Plus overall, light foxing, rubbing, toning, a few creases, chips and stains, dissipating must, a few wrappers Good only. For mature audiences. Willinger emigrierte 1939 in die USA und wurde Studio-Fotograf bei Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in Hollywood. 1946 eröffnete er am Sunset Boulevard ein eigenes Fotoatelier . Kalman emigrierte über Frankreich auch in die USA . Foto signed by Kalman and Willinger Size: 18x13 cm. Vom Komponisten signiert. Buch.
