It is signed and inscribed to the son and daughter-in-law of the writer Julian Street, a two-time winner of the O. Henry Award. A library at Princeton University is named after him. The inscription, on the half-title page, reads 'For Pete and Narcissa Street with best wishes and affectionate regard--- Charley Wilson, New York, January 10, 1963.' The book is in nice condition. However, there is a loss at the bottom corner of page 93-94 which takes out a handful of words on both sides of this page. Oddly enough, with the exception of this flaw, the pages look perfect. I'm not seeing any soiling. There isn't any creasing. No markings. No attachments. And the signed inscription is the only writing to be found anywhere. The inside covers and end papers are black. They look clean and are in good shape. The book is square and the spine is straight. The binding is very solid from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. You can see the covers in the photos. There is a bump and a tiny tear off the top edge of the front middle edge. The edges are otherwise in very solid shape. Same with the other three corners. There's some crinkling at the top edge of the spine. The lettering on the spine is bright. The page edges look good. Inside the book there is also a sheet of paper with 'Charles Morrow Wilson, Putney, Vermont' printed at the top. Below that there are three penned lines. The first one states 'U.S. Steel-- Chicago--' and then provides some page numbers. The second line has 'Steel industry' written on it with a line and a half of page numbers. My guess is that the author wrote that down for the Streets when he sent them the book. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It's pretty clean. There is a little loss at the top right-hand corner of the front. There are tiny losses at the spine ends. There is also a tear at the top balloon end of the spine. The photographs should give you a pretty good impression. The flaps are in solid shape, no tears or losses, no creases. The words 'Twin leaf are penned off the top edge of the front flap. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. I will fit it with a protective cover after the photos are scanned.
