A posthumous work contains a number of unfinished sketches and rough studies for pictures which were to come. They take us behind the scenes in an artist's studio; they take us with him to the actual spots all over England, where he made his notes for the work which he meant to elaborate but which unhappily he never could. Some minor foxing to end papers but rest of text quite clean. Fold out maps and illustrations still attached and intact although vol I has small tear to map. Both volumes in very good condition, boards show shelf wear and usage, spines have very slight rubbing , but hinges are fully intact. Previous owners name and address on front free end papers of both volumes. A lovely collectors set.…
