Die Bibliothek der Historischen Gesellschaft von Johann Gustav Droysen bildet den ältesten Bestandteil der Zweigbibliothek Geschichte der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Diese Büchersammlung wurde ab 1860 angelegt und stellte nach Droysens Tod am 19. Juni 1884 den ersten umfangreichen geschlossenen Bücherfundus dar, der an die Bibliothek des durch Julius Weizsäcker am 30. Januar 1885 gegründeten Historischen Seminars gelangte. Ihre Rückerschließung machte aufwendige Untersuchungen am Bestand selbst nötig. Wenn als Ergebnis zum 200. This study gives a more precise explanation of the function and purpose of ruler-images by examining a few selected early medieval miniatures. It analyzes the historical and social contexts of their genesis and the liturgical and commemorative aims of their use against the setting of the social form of remembrance of confraternity.

Die "Observantia lectionum in universitate Rostochiensi" aus dem Jahr 1520 ist das älteste gedruckte Vorlesungsverzeichnis der Uni…versität Rostock und wohl einer deutschen Universität überhaupt. Der textierte Einblattdruck hatte die Funktion, an die 100-jährige Wiederkehr der Universitätsstiftung von 1419 zu erinnern und dieses Jubiläum zugleich feierlich in Szene zu setzen. Das detaillierte Programm der Lehrveranstaltungen in den vier Fakultäten gab die innere Ordnung der Universität nach auÃen wieder. Seine feste Druckform sollte die trotz Krieg, Pest und Reformation stabile Verfasstheit der Institution demonstrieren. Die Observantia lectionum liegt hiermit erstmals in einer wissenschaftlichen Edition vor. Der lateinische Text des Originals wird parallel mit einer deutschen Ãbersetzung wiedergegeben. Sowohl die darin aufgeführten Lehrpersonen der Universität als auch die zu unterrichtenden Texte und deren Autoren sind ausführlich kommentiert. Auf diese Weise entsteht eine aufschlussreiche Momentaufnahme der Universität Rostock an der Schwelle vom späten Mittelalter zur frühen Neuzeit. Nicht allein für die Historie der Rostocker Alma Mater, die 2019 ihr 600-jähriges Bestehen begeht, sondern auch für die generelle Universitäts- und Wissenschaftsgeschichte stellt diese Edition daher einen unverzichtbaren Beitrag dar.
