In good dark navy bevel-edged boards, with colour illustrations of man with black cat inlaid to front and back strip and gilt titles to back strip. The covers are straight, quite firm and clean; corners and spine cloth ends a little bumped and frayed. Lightly foxed and tanned end papers' plain book plate on front paste down. Tanned and foxed cut edges; the fore and tail edges are deckled. The text block is overall in good condition, lightly foxed on many of the pages, but not tanned, and, quite tightly bound. With b/w illustrations and plates by Stanley L Wood. The frontispiece is loose; plate facing page 246 has a few small marks; plate facing page 188 is loose. Four pages of publisher's adverts. No inscriptions etc.
