They make up a homogeneneous group, bound uniformly in vellum with titles inscribed in ink by hand on the spines of the books. The dates of publication are mainly of the sixteenth century, but some belong to the seventeenth century and three to the eighteenth. Places of publication lie chiefly in Italy, but French, Swiss, and German printers are also represented. The entries will be incorporated throughout the main Library Catalogue; but it has been thought desirable to bind a few sets of sheets for presentation to certain selected libraries, in order that the existence and contents of this rather unusual collection may be more widely known.
