Collega e amico di Francesco Redi, Giuseppe Zambeccari è considerato uno dei pionieri della fisiologia sperimentale: questo scritto è uno dei primi trattati di fisiologia che si vale della vivisezione; è altresì il primo trattato teorico in cui si vuol dimostrare che la milza non è essenziale alla sopravvivenza.First and only edition, it's the only one scientific work ever published in life by Zambeccari (1655-1728): beyond this he only published a short treaty about Pisa and Lucca thermal baths. A friend of Francesco Redi, Zambeccari is considered a pioneer of the experimental phisiology, and this work is one of the first in its kind done making use of vivisection.
