Dieser Optimismus wurde manchmal belächelt, manchmal als idealistisch abgetan, viel öfter aber als überzeugendes Engagement und ehrliche Bereitschaft anerkannt, unsere noch junge Demokratie stabiler und widerstandsfähiger gestalten zu helfen. So ist die Zielgruppe vorliegender Arbeit weniger in der Wissenschaft, sondern eher unter den Praktikern politischer Bildung, Leh rern und Studenten des Lehramtes zu sehen. Aus diesem Grunde bemühte sich der Ver fasser, Sprache und Aufbau der Arbeit dieser Gruppe anzupassen, Wissenschaftler-Jargon und theoretische Höhenflüge zu vermeiden. Trotzdem meine ich, mit der Dissertation einen Beitrag zum Fortschritt der Wissenschaft zu leisten, indem empirische Ergebnisse der politischen Psychologie gesichtet und systematisiert und didaktische Konsequenzen daraus gezogen werden. Es gibt eine Reihe von Menschen, denen ich für Anregungen und Verständnis zu danken habe: - zuerst meinem Mann und meinen Kindern, die mir auf vielfache Art und Weise bei dem Vorhaben halfen; - meinem 'Doktorvater', Herrn Prof. Dr. Dieter Grosser, der mich wohlwollend und er mutigend in dem mir eigenen Arbeitsstil unterstützte; - Herrn Prof. Dr. Hartmut Kasten und Herrn Prof. Dr. Klaus Ulich, von denen ich aus ihren Seminaren Hinweise über empirische Quellen und Anregungen mitnahm; ~ Frau Carla Brightenback, Middlebury, die mich aus USA mit den neuesten empirischen Ergebnissen versorgte; - und vielen anderen.
