Nel volume sono relazionati 221 itinerari di tutti i generi e difficoltà, dal semplice percorso prettamente invernale, tra boschi e radure, al ripido canale che sale vette di quasi 4000 metri. Cifra a biro incop. 7 pagine di introduzione e commenti di Mario ZUCCHI, che racconta i trascorsi giacobini e repubblicani giovanili del Botta dal 1794 al 1800, Souvarow ecc. e menziona anche la Scuola Veterinaria istituita al Valentino dal Botta e da altri al tempo della Repubblica. Le successive 10 pagine riportano 10 LETTERE del Botta all'illustre botanico Giovanni Battista BALBIS (Moretta CN 1765 - Torino 1831), scritte da Parigi dal 25 genn. al 5 dicembre 1826, tutte in italiano salvo le prime 3 che sono in francese. Il Balbis era stato implicato nel complotto giacobino del 1794 ed era fuggito in camicia riparando in Francia, tornato e poi di nuovo fuggito al tempo di Souvarow ecc. e rimase poi amico e sodale del Botta. BOTTA (San Giorgio Canavese 1766 - Parigi 1837), arrestato la sera del 27 maggio 1794 e tradotto il 28 dello stesso mese nel carcere militare di Acqui; rilasciato nel 1795, emigrò in Francia. Ritornò in Italia l'anno dopo come chirurgo nell'armata francese guidata da Napoleone Bonaparte; da Venezia proseguì per Corfù e tornò in Italia nel 1798. Nel 1799 fece parte del Governo provvisorio della Nazione Piemontese istituito dopo la fuga del re Carlo Emanuele IV e nel 1801 fu uno dei triumviri insieme con l'anatomista Carlo Giulio e Carlo Bossi; sostenitore di una politica filofrancese, fu favorevole all'annessione del Piemonte alla Francia, proclamata l'11 settembre 1802, e fu poi bonapartista; in seguito, sostenne l'indipendenza e l'unità nazionale italiana, ma dal 1814 dimorò in FranciaCensito come estratto in 3 bibl.…
