Soft cover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: None, As Issued. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 32 pages. Published in 1997. Artist Book. Collection of black-and-white photographs. Limited Edition of 1000 numbered copies. Published as a softcover original only as Number 18 in the Series on Contemporary Artists by the… Salon Verlag. The other participating artists are listed on the back cover and include Christian Boltanski, Joseph Kosuth, Sigmar Polke, Nan Goldin, and Roni Horn, among others. The Limited Edition is now rare. A brilliant production by Jack Pierson: Small-size volume format. Pictorial softcovers with black titles on the cover and spine, as issued. Photographs by Jack Pierson. There is no text. Printed on pristine-white, thick coated stock paper in Germany to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Jack Pierson's "Sing A Song of Sixpence". One of the artist's most "un-serious", most charming, and most delightful little Artist Books: Black-and-white photographs of a good-looking, "cute" young man. The English nursery rhyme dates from the 18th century, which Pierson alludes to in photographs of an 18th-century English castle. But Pierson is really fixated on the young English boy/man, who looks good enough to eat. Also features the late great Hollywood actor Paul Newman as yet another of the artist's icons. An absolute "must-have" title for Jack Pierson collectors. This is a copy of the Limited Edition of 1000 numbered copies. It is very prominently and beautifully signed, dated, and inscribed in black ink-pen on the title page by the artist/photographer: "Little niblet, my little smurfirific pal. Love, Jack '98". The recipient, who is named, is unmistakably intimately known to the artist. This title is a contemporary classic. As far as we know, this is the only such signed, dated, and inscribed copy of the Limited Edition available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A rare signed copy thus. 30 plates. One of the most brilliant artist/photographers of our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER JACK PIERSON TITLES IN OUR CATALOG) ISBN 3932189183. Signed by Author.

Soft cover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: None, As Issued. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 30 pages. Published in 1999. Artist Book. Collection of photo ID's. Limited Edition of 1000 numbered copies. Published as a softcover original only and as Number 26 in the legendary Series On Contemporary Artists by Salon…Verlag. The Limited Edition is now scarce. An austerely elegant production by Christian Boltanski: Small-size volume format. Pictorial softcovers with titles on the cover and spine, as issued. Art by Christian Boltanski. Printed on pristine-white, archival stock paper in Germany to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Christian Boltanski's "So Schnell". So Fast. An archive of thirty photo ID's of people between the ages of 17 and 29 (in 1999, the year of creation and publication). Each photo is accompanied underneath by the subject's full name and the year he or she was born. The photograph and caption are placed against the graphing paper used by students. That they are so young, which goes so fast, is poignantly evoked by this simple and seemingly innocuous collection. The year of birth in photo ID's is customarily followed by a blank space to indicate that the person is still alive. Boltanski adapts the custom, but instead of a blank space shows four dots, which unmistakably represent the year the subject will die instead. Since his own death on July 14, 2021, tributes to Christian Boltanski focussed exclusively on his site-specific installations, completely ignoring his two other incomparable achievements: First, the series of short films that he filmed, in each of which an "accident" takes place, and he dies. Boltanski stored the films in vintage biscuit tin cans, which he salvaged, accumulating endless rows of them, a "throwaway", quotidian artifact that he single-handedly elevated to an art object - therefore as something sacred - and now feverishly coveted as such by collectors. Second, Boltanski's large body of work in the Artist Book genre will remain unsurpassed, perhaps matched only by Ed Ruscha's, sort of, and in a totally different vein. Now that he is (really) dead, the grief one feels for the vanished Life is somehow mitigated by the timeless beauty of the Art. An absolute "must-have" title for Christian Boltanski collectors. This copy is one of the Limited Edition of 1000 serial-numbered copies, indicated/stamped as such on the Back Limitation Page. It is very prominently, neatly, and beautifully signed in pencil on the Inside Front Cover by Christian Boltanski. It is signed directly on the cover itself, not on a tipped-in page. This title is a great Artist Book. As far as we know, this is the only such signed copy of the Limited Edition available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A rare signed copy thus. 30 black-and-white plates. One of the greatest artists of the 20th century and our time. A fine collectible copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER CHRISTIAN BOLTANSKI TITLES IN OUR CATALOG) ISBN 3932189264. Signed by Author.

Aggiungi al carrelloSoft cover. Condizione: Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition, Limited Edition. Published by Salon Verlag & Edition, Cologne 2016. Limited Edition: 350 copies of book and text. ('192/350' penciled within booklet.) Facsimile of Gerhard Richter's Artist's Book with tipped in copies of original photographs along with facsimile notes, glue a…nd sellotape marks etc. Plus 8 page booklet printed in German and English. Softcover. 19.5 x 11.5 cm. Weighs 378 grams. Box simply constructed with stapled corners. Box measures 12.75 x 20.5 cm. Light wear to box and book. 'E240' penciled to rear of box, the original 2016 price, otherwise fine. --- Extract from the leaflet: When Gerhard Richter started his journey to Greenland in the summer of 1972, he had a particular picture in mind: it was the painting The Sea of Ice by Caspar David Friedrich, which dates back to 1823/24. Richter, who was born and who had studied in Dresden himself, had been familiar with the works by the Dresden artist Friedrich since the 1950's. How-ever, he first saw the painting's original that was long known under the title The Wreck of Hope, for the first time in 1968. At this time, he had a deputy professorship for the painter Paul Wunderlich at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg. Since 1905, Friedrich's painting has been a part of the Hamburger Kunsthalle's collection. Friedrich was inspired for this motive by a Greenland expedition conducted by William Edward Parry in 1819/1820. Friedrich reinterpreted the dangerous search for the famous Northwest passage for navigation into a scene of failure. In an unrealistic snow-covered landscape, Parry's stranded ship, the Griper, is smashed by huge ice floes. By art history Friedrich's land-scapes, such as this painting, have been read as symbols for the not fulfilled hopes for a liberalization as well as for the granting of civil rights and freedom of the press in Germany after the wars of liberation of 1812/1813. On Feburary 9th 1972, Gerhard Richter turned 40. In the pre-vious year, the Düsseldorf Kunstakademie had appointed him a professorship for painting. Since June 114, 1972, he had been representing the Federal Republic of Germany at the Biennial in Venice as the only German artist. Richter's artistic career had reached its first peak. Richter booked a ten-day package tour to Greenland, which led him via Copenhagen to Gothab by plane, then by helicopter and finally on board a ship into the Arctic Ocean. It should not explicitly be a vacation. He thankfully rejected Hanne Darboven's offer to travel together and went by himself instead. Right from the beginning, he emphasized the professional character of his adventure: »I wanted to take pictures, such as the The Wreck of Hope by Caspar David Friedrich. The whole thing was a project.« Richter understood Friedrich's paintings as parables to his private situation. His relationship was in a crisis and he struggled with his roles as husband and father. »The project was also an alibi to go there, giving the trip a purpose. Marriage went through a crisis. And going into the ice can also be a longing for a place where you will feel safe. No life, only ice, « Richter vividly recalled his emotional state even 30 years later. --- Full refund if you are not entirely pleased with your purchase. Combined shipping available at cost.
