The author emphasizes that the principle¿s base lay at the outset of the EEC, when the ECJ sought means to foster the enforcement of EC law. He shows that although State Liability was introduced in Francovich, there was not enough guidance on its application. He highlights that these matters were resolved in Brasserie/Factortame III, which refined the assessment of culpability, but was inconsistent and had to be further clarified in case law. He illustrates that the doctrine was expanded to breaches of EC law by last instance courts in Köbler. For a well-known system arising from nonlinear optics and Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC), in…the subcritical case, qualitative properties of ground state solutions, including an optimal parameter range for the existence, the uniqueness and asymptotic behaviors, have been investigated and the results could firstly partially answer open questions raised by Ambrosetti, Colorado and Sirakov. In the critical case, a systematical research on ground state solutions, including the existence, the nonexistence, the uniqueness and the phase separation phenomena of the limit profile has been presented, which seems to be the first contribution for BEC in the critical case. Furthermore, some quite different phenomena were also studied in a more general critical system. For the classical Brezis-Nirenberg critical exponent problem, the sharp energy estimate of least energy solutions in a ball has been investigated in this study. Finally, for Ambrosetti type linearly coupled Schr¿dinger equations with critical exponent, an optimal result on the existence and nonexistence of ground state solutions for different coupling constants was also obtained in this thesis. The model for the Swiss economy is an expanded version of the framework proposed by Galì and Monacelli (2005) as well as Monacelli (2005). It is enriched with habit formation in consumption, price indexation, labor market imperfections, and several additional structural disturbances. The results show that ¿ exactly as expected ¿ the volatility of inflation is quite significantly lower under the price-level targeting regime, whereas the volatility of the output gap is markedly higher conditional on either productivity or preference shocks. Therefore, the introduction of a price-level targeting regime would likely produce an increase in the volatility of real economic activity conditional on both supply-side and demand-side shocks. During t…he week before the conference in a kind of summer school a series of preparatory lectures for young mathematicians was provided as an introduction to Iwasawa theory.Iwasawa theory is a modern and powerful branch of number theory and can be traced back to the Japanese mathematician Kenkichi Iwasawa, who introduced the systematic study of Z_p-extensions and p-adic L-functions, concentrating on the case of ideal class groups. Later this would be generalized to elliptic curves. Over the last few decades considerable progress has been made in automorphic Iwasawa theory, e.g. the proof of the Main Conjecture for GL(2) by Kato and Skinner & Urban. Techniques such as Hida's theory of p-adic modular forms and big Galois representations play a crucial part. Also a noncommutative Iwasawa theory of arbitrary p-adic Lie extensions has been developed.This volume aims to present a snapshot of the state of art of Iwasawa theory as of 2012. This requires appropriate design of the shape and structure of airfoils by engineers. Knocking occurs in combustion, a chemical 1 process, and must be avoided since it damages motors. The scale is 10 cm and these processes must be optimized for e ciency and environmental conside- tions. The common thread is that the underlying uid ows may at a certain scale of observation be described by basically the same type of hyperbolic s- tems of partial di erential equations in divergence form, called conservation laws. Astrophysicists, engineers and mathematicians share a common interest in scienti c progress on theory for these equations and the development of computational methods for solutions of the equations. In… its present abstract form this concept goes back to G.D. Birkhoff. This is also the starting point of Chapter 1 of this book in which uncontrolled and controlled time-continuous and time-discrete systems are investigated. Controlled dynamical systems could be considered as dynamical systems in the strong sense, if the controls were incorporated into the state space. We, however, adapt the conventional treatment of controlled systems as in control theory. We are mainly interested in the question of controllability of dynamical systems into equilibrium states. In the non-autonomous time-discrete case we also consider the problem of stabilization.
