Prima edizione
Softcover. Condizione: Fine. First edition. Small quarto. 21 sheets, printed recto only. Stapled illustrated covers. A small bump near the upper staple, else fine. A collection of poems, plays, and short stories, with lines such as ".I wish today was my birthday, I wish I had 7,000 cats, I wish for nothing, I am nothing, I hate myself, I hate everybody in the class, I hate the school, But I love God, And He loves me"; "In the night the ghost of the living dead smiles at my baby doll. In the night my heart beats slowly and quietly like the only muscle I have."; and ".My tears go into my mouth, My life is ruined, I'm always sitting in a chair thinking about my puppy, I am depressed that my puppy died, Life is hard, I feel sorry for the world."; as well as a play titled "Death & Life of Oprah Winfrey" in which Dr. Huxtable (Bill Cosby) fails to save Oprah, who is dying of asthma. They call in Dr. Popeye, who eats a can of his emergency spinach, then proceeds to "turn Oprah inside-out and pump her heart with his bare hands," saving her. We are unsure if any of this was written by second graders, or by Larry Fagin, who is listed as "Writer-in-Residence," or perhaps a combination of the two. Fagin did write a book titled *The List Poem: A Guide to Teaching & Writing Catalog Verse*, which defines list poetry, and offers writing ideas, teaching advice, and samples of student poems. Scarce, we have been unable to locate another copy.
