This catalogue was produced to accompany the exhibition of work by Louisa Paris (1811-1875) held at the Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne from 24 July to 12 September 1982. In 1960 a series of watercolour views of South-east England, painted between 1852 and 1854 were purchased by the Towner Art Gallery. They were painted by an accomplished amateur artist named Louisa Catherine Paris, who mounted them in a scrapbook at a later date, adding lively inscriptions beneath each picture. In the 1970s, some of the paintings relating to Eastbourne were shown in the gallery, and the rest were than framed for this exhibition.…
