A first edition - first printing of Volume II of "The Letters of Virginia Woolf", published by The Hogarth Press in 1976. Illustrated throughout with monochrome photographic plates. ***Very good in sea-green cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. The gilt is still beautifully bright. The boards are clean and unmarked. Head and tail of spine just slightly creased. No other bumps or creases. Corners sharp. No reading lean to the binding. No reading creases to the spine. Spine tight. Page block edges foxed, mainly to the top edge (please see scans). Internally near fine with no previous ownership inscriptions or annotations. Pages clean with no foxing. No creases or tears. The paper used for this production is thin but of a nice quality. ***In a very good illustrated dustwrapper, which retains the original publisher's printed price of £9.50 net. The dustwrapper is complete, with no chips or tears. Some light creasing to the extremities, mainly to the top and tail of the spine. Fading to the spine colour, with a few small spots at the lower spine. Foxing to the inner flaps, with some browning to the edges. ***242mm x 160mm. 627 pages including an extremely detailed 25pp Index at the back of the book. ***'The first volume of Virginia Woolf's letters has introduced the reader to their ebullience and wit.
