Der steinreiche ungarische Count" Festetics de Tolna gönnte sich und seiner frisch angetrauten Ehefrau eine 8-jährige Hochzeitsreise kreuz und quer durch die Südsee sowie durch die indonesische Inselwelt. Stationen waren u.a. Hawai, Tahiti, Samoa, Fiji, Neue Hebriden, Salomonen, Bismarck-Archipel, Palau etc. Zwei fotografisch hervorragend ausgestattete Reisewerke auf Kunstdruck-Papier waren u.a. die Früchte dieser Expedition. Nach dem früher erschienenen "Chez les Cannibales" dokumentiert das hier vorliegende Werk den zweiten Teil der Reise, im Wesentlichen durch die Inselwelt Melanesiens.
