Siamo nl pieno della Questione della lingua , nel periodo in cui gli uomini di lettere discutono se quanto di meglio avevano presentato in letteratura gli autori che avevano scritto in volgare, soprattutto i toscani, fosse paragonabile con i classici latini e greci. Boccaccio per la prosa e Petrarca per la poesia devono essere i modelli per una lingua scritta che abolisca i regionalismi e, cogliendo le migliori forme linguistiche del paese, ne faccia una lingua comprensibile ed apprezzata dalla Lombardia alla Sicilia.

Modern vellum and morocco lettering label titled in gilt "BEMBO RIME," endpapers renewed; (edges lightly browned or some dampstaining throughout, otherwise good compact volume and complete). Although not named on the title, this is the "newly corrected" edition by Tomaso Porcacchi (1530-1585) of Pietro Bembo's Delle Rime. Tommaso Porcacchi (of Castiglione) was a Tuscan author, bibliophile, and cartographer. Porcacchi's edition of Bembo's work was first published in Venice with Gabriel Giolito de' Ferrari in 1564. By 1586, Porcacchi had commissioned Pietro Marinelli to continue to print his edits to the Della Rime; Porcacchi was considered a well-known authority on literary matters. Earlier editions of Delle Rime - by de'Ferrari or those predating the copyedited versions of Porcacchi - remain more common. Entirely, this work encapsulates a theme the golden age of Venetian letters and printing - one for revision, collaboration, and active exchange. Pietro Bembo was a native Venetian, born into old nobility in 1470. In the decades directly after Bembo's life, there was an extreme interest in planning new editions for his works among them Delle Rime. The Venetian-based Porcacchi circulated his revisions to some of the key sixteenth-century printers operating in the magnificent City of Bridges. The Porcacchi editions are classic, not only for examining the editorial attention given to a popular vernacular text in Renaissance Italy, but for showing the growth of an important printing industry and a new method for working.

Pietro Bembo (1470 1547) was a Venetian scholar, poet, and literary theorist who also was a member of the Knights Hospitaller, and a cardinal of the Catholic Church. As an intellectual of the Italian Renaissance (15th 16th c.), Pietro Bembo greatly influenced the development of the Tuscan dialect as a literary language for poetry and prose, which, by later codification into a standard language, became the modern Italian language. In the 16th century, Bembo's poetry, essays and books proved basic to reviving interest in the literary works of Petrarch. In the field of music, Bembo's literary writing techniques helped composers develop the techniques of musical composition that made the madrigal the most important secular music of 16th-century Italy. Tommaso Porcacchi (1530-1585) was a prolific Italian writer, scholar, geographer and translator. Born to a poor family, Porcacchi was however able to study thanks to the patronage of Duke Cosimo I. While in Florence, Porcacchi met humanist L. Domenichi, thanks to whom he was able to publish his first works, a biography of Vergil and a translation of the Aeneid. Thanks to Domenichi's recommendations, Porcacchi became acquainted with influential publishers of the time. In 1559, he settled in Venice, where he remained until his death. In Venice, Porcacchi published several geographical, historical and archaeological works, and also translated a number of texts from Greek to Latin. By publishing in the vernacular language as well, he showed his support for the Counter-Reformation. Among his scholarly works, most notable are his anthology of the islands (first published in 1572), a treatise on funerary practices and a collection of biographies of illustrious men. Gabriele Giolito de' Ferrari (c. 1508 1578) was a 16th-century Italian printer active in Venice. He was one of the first major publishers of literature in the vernacular Italian language. The author, a fervent supporter of the Italian language and convinced that it could have a richer future than the Latin language, in this work compiled the first rationally ordered grammar of the Italian language. This appears to be a reprint of the second edition, with the title page reading 'Seconda Impressione' and dated 1540. This volume contains Rime di Bembo, sonnets (including a composition by Vittoria Colonna), and Stanze di Bembo. Bembo greatly influenced the development of the Tuscan dialect as a literary language as opposed to Latin, and helped it become what is now the modern Italian language. 1335293. Special Collections.

Ancorchè al titolo si parli di \"edizion seconda per Gli Asolani, in realtà numerose impressioni erano venute alla luce tra la prima edizione (Aldo 1505) e questa stampa dei Nicolini, ma come rileva il Gamba molto da pregiarsi è questa ristampa, essendosi fatta sotto gli occhi dell`autore; ed i vocabolisti dicono d`averla per lo più adoperata. Risguardi rinnovati. Margine superiore piuttosto rifilato ma senza perdita, insieme abilmente lavato, mantiene lievi tracce di sporco a poche carte. Non comune e pregevole edizione delle opere dell'Ariosto qui riunite, apparse per la prima volta spettivamente nel 1546 (Rime) e nel 1534 (Satire).  2) Bembo: Delle Rime, di nuovo ristampate e con ogni diligenza corrette. 69 carte numerate (per errore l'ultima è numerata 79, 3 bianche alla fine); impresa tipografica sul titolo, testo in corsivo. Rarissima edizione (il BMC registra una sola opera impressa con questo stampatore a Venezia nel 1585). Bell'esemplare delle due opere, molto ben conservato, lieve gor d'umido all'angolo inferiore destro fino alla fine della terza parte. Book.

Nelle sue Rime, edite prima nel 1530 e poi nel 1535, Pietro Bembo attua un'importante "rifondazione del petrarchismo": l'imitazione quattrocentesca di Petrarca, che mostra fino a quel momento una natura ibrida, riadattata e spesso occasionale, viene superata a favore di un travestimento totale della personalità letteraria dello scrittore toscano, che nel suo corpus poetico racconta di errori giovanili e di illusioni, di un sofferto e tormentato rapporto con Dio e di una maturità spirituale raggiunta solo in età adulta. Bembo instaura perciò, nel suo canzoniere, l'imitazione di quel tracciato storico dell'intimità personale già visibile nelle opere del poeta trecentesco. La struttura delle Rime, che conta 165 testi, segue il principio di un unico modello per ogni genere della comunicazione letteraria, discusso per la prima volta in uno scambio epistolare tra il 1512 e il 1513 con Giovanni Francesco Pico della Mirandola.
