Aggiungi al carrelloCloth. Condizione: Good. Not stated (illustratore). An interesting work comprised of six hundred and thirty five essays published in the Spectator between 1711 and 1714. Comprised of six hundred and thirty five essays published in the Spectator between 1711 and 1714, this interesting work offers a window into the political and cultural issues of the early eighteenth century. The Spectator was a daily periodical published by politicians Joseph Addison and Sir Richard Steele, and was one of the bestsellers of the eighteenth century. The publication was framed as the reports of Mr Spectator, and contained news, alongside cultural commentary on manners, morals, and literature. This new edition includes biographical information about the journal's contributors. In the publisher's original blue cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Lightly rubbed to the boards and spine, a little more so to the joints. Bumped to the head and tail of the spine, with a small closed tear to the head, and a large tear to the tail. Some minor wear to the extremities. The front and rear hinges have failed, but the text block has been glued to the spine. Internally, generally firmly bound, although the front few pages are loose as a result of the failed hinge, and the the front endpaper, frontispiece, and pages xxiii to xxvi are disbound but present. Pages are generally bright and clean with some occasional light scattered foxing. Good. book.
