Daily prayer was important and people were also acutely aware of their mortality. This work was one of the most important devotional Anglican prayer books of the early modern era. First published after the English civil war (c1645), it would run through multiple editions. The book discussed how to live through daily prayer, work and virtue, and how to prepare for death and the judgement day. This is a particularly fine copy - red ruled, gilt edge, and bound in fine gold tooled contemporary black calf. Some wear to upper spine but generally excellent. Internally clean with only a few marks here and there. The original owner was a Mary Bramston (signature) and it was later owned by the Barons Osborn in Bedfordshire (Bookplate).…

For $60.00 Gale sells one bark mill and grants to Elias Gould, of Henniker, County of Hillsborough, [NH], "the full and exclusive right and liberty of using the said Bark-Mill in the town and county aforesaid." Signed by Gale and witnessed (probably by his wife), dated in ink, September 11, 1815. See RINK 1394, for one copy of an 1818 broadside printed in Lenox, which takes note of a patent infringement for this patent; and for the grant of patent right, see RINK 1392, which is an 1813 notification that Gale has purchased exclusive right to C. The text concludes with later religious testimonies from the likes of David Brainerd, Thomas Chalkley, and Francis Guy.
