This formal Opinion of Counsel, evidently unrecorded, addresses "the right of using Morse's instruments on Railroad Telegraph Lines west of Pittsburg." No one, say the authors, is "more familiar with the whole history of the contracts and controversies in Telegraph matters" than the Chesters [the writers]. They conclude that the firm of Wade & Eckert is fully authorized to furnish those Lines to the Ohio and Pennsylvania Railroad Company, "with Morse instruments, with the right to use the same." The Chesters firmly rebut, with much information on the history of the controversy, "the extravagance and the emptiness of the seeming claim" to the contrary made by Amos Kendall, who represents "the Morse patentees."
