Besides containing a rare published work by Turing ('Digital Computers Applied to Games' in which he further expounds on the 'Imitation game' via chess gaming) the list of other contributors to this book provides a mini Who's Who of computer pioneers, how significant the contents are is testified by the book being reprinted many times, the last being in 1968. This is a copy from the increasingly elusive very first printing of 1953. 1st printing. 8vo in light tan cloth, gilt lettering to spine, 416pp, plates, diagrams, charts in text, 2 folding sheets, glossary, index, etc. This copy comes protectievely housed in a custom made dark brown cloth covered slipcase. CONDITION: An uncommonly well preserved FINE clean and tight unmarked and barely read copy (pages slightly tanned, thin sliver of very slight creasing to spine ends with very thin sliver of tanning to bottom edge of spine) in a tanned and lightly edge-chipped but otherwise VERY GOOD+ price-clipped Dust Jacket (looks very presentable indeed in its removable transparent protector).
