There is a Crystal Springs, Mississippi cemetery record for a Ben I. Burney [Ben Ike Burney] (1902-1993) whose dates overlap the label's estimated time frame. Online research regarding the Burney honey-apiary operation turns up nothing nor does an independent search of the Mississippi Secretary of State and Department of Agriculture archives. However a small and relatively local honeybee operation in 1930s-1940s rural Copiah County could have easily escaped government business/tax registration or agricultural inspection/certification. Depression-era agriculture product labels for central Mississippi - an area characterized by modest family farms and not the multi-thousand acre plantations of the state's Mississippi River region - are quite uncommon and are an interesting niche within the field of collectible advertising.

Seine frühen Arbeiten waren von der sozial engagierten Linienführung einer Käthe Kollwitz beeinflußt (Aus der Geschichte der deutschen Arbeiterbewegung, Lithographie 1956). Sein anerkanntes Schaffen ermöglichte ihm Studienreisen nach China und in die Sowjetunion, aber auch ins westliche Ausland; so erhielt er 1970 auf der II. Biennale für Graphik in Florenz eine Goldmedaille. Siegfried Salzmann war von 1971 bis 1984 Direktor des Wilhelm Lehmbruck-Museums in Duisburg und anschließend bis 1993 Direktor der Kunsthalle Bremen.
