That same nightHubert Strange is found murdered in his studio. Some valuables are gone, also a photograph of Rhoda Despard, George's wife. A burglar and no less than two other persons are known to have visited Hubert Strange that night. Who killed him? And what relation to the crime has the bearded stranger who has taken refuge in the house of the priest Sn Felice?"
