Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book narrates the story of Naples' popular tumult that began on July 7, 1647, during the 17th century. The author provides a detailed account of the events leading up to and including the tumult, which was sparked by a tax on fruit. The uprising was led by a young fisherman named Masaniello and spread rapidly throughout the city, as the people rallied against Spanish rule and oppressive taxation. The author skillfully weaves together historical research and vivid descriptions to bring this tumultuous period to life. Through the exploration of this significant event, the book delves into broader themes of social inequality, political oppression, and the struggle for self-determination. It offers valuable insights into the dynamics of popular uprisings and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Full leather hardback with gilt lettering down the spine. A few patches rubbed and worn but still showing well and holding firm. The red and black title-page is a little darkened and the lower right corner is chipped, slightly affecting the border and text; in addition the portrait frontispiece is missing; even so the contents are otherwise complete and very tidy, just age toned and tanned. Moreover, not from a library so no such stamps or labels. Neither are there any pen-marks or inscriptions, save the former owner's stamp and name at the endpaper: George H. Radford (very possibly the Liberal politician: Sir George Heynes Radford). Size: 8vo (143mm x 90mm); collation: pp. [6], 146. Thus a scarce book about the leader of the Nepalese revolt against Habsburg Spain, Masaniello, who died in 1647; and despite the title-page chip and lack of a frontispiece, still a very good copy indeed. Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. The tumultuous events of July 1647 in Naples are brought to life in this account of a popular uprising against oppressive taxation. As the people of Naples grew increasingly burdened by the weight of tariffs and duties, a charismatic fishmonger named Masaniello emerged as their unlikely leader. Gathering a devoted following, Masaniello rallied the masses, leading them in a revolt that would forever alter the city's history. Through vivid descriptions and meticulous research, the author immerses readers in the heart of this extraordinary uprising, capturing the passion, the violence, and the profound social and political implications of a people united in their quest for liberation. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
