Minor shelf/handling wear, former owner's signature on main title, otherwise unmarked. Color pictorial dust jacket shows modest shelf wear, rubbed edges, several creases paralleling front flap fold, 1 1/2" triangular area of loss along bottom front edge, now in mylar. ii,91 pp., illus. w/ b&w photographs. Disturbing propagandistic chronicle of the first year of rule by the so-called "Second Republic," i.e. Idi Amin's military dictatorship, ultimately responsible for an estimated 300,000 murders over the next decade. Amin has provided the Foreword to this volume, opposite his b&w portrait in military attire. Most of the photographs show Amin being congratulated and engaged in political discussions, clearly attempts to legitimize his rule; also a folding plate of Amin and the miinisters in his government. Exceptionally scarce; this particular copy appears to have arrived stateside with a group of Mennonite missionaries who, fearing the worst, fled Uganda early in Amin's regime. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Book.
