Disturbing propagandistic chronicle of the first year of rule by the so-called "Second Republic," i.e. Idi Amin's military dictatorship, ultimately responsible for an estimated 300,000 murders over the next decade. Amin has provided the Foreword to this volume, opposite his b&w portrait in military attire. Most of the photographs show Amin being congratulated and engaged in political discussions, clearly attempts to legitimize his rule; also a folding plate of Amin and the miinisters in his government. Exceptionally scarce; this particular copy appears to have arrived stateside with a group of Mennonite missionaries who, fearing the worst, fled Uganda early in Amin's regime. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Book.
