Maximilian Friedrich von Königsegg-Rothenfels war von 1761 bis 1784 Erzbischof von Köln und damit Kurfürst des Heiligen Römischen Reiches, er war auch Fürstbischof von Münster. - Es handelt sich hier um eine Verteidigungsschrift des Fürstbischofs zu Münster an den Kaiser ( des Heiligen Römischen Reiches, Joseph II. ), in der er auf eine Klageschrift erwidert, die der Clerus Secundarius beim Kaiserlichen Reichskammergerichte gegen ihn eingereicht hatte. --- Inhalt: Vorrede / Abschnitt A, in welchem eine wahre Geschichtserzählung vorangeschickt wird dergestalt, dass zunächst anhand der Verfassung des münsterschen Hochstifts gezeigt wird, welche Bewandnis es mit den Landständen und dem 'clero secundario' habe, gefolgt von der Darlegung des Zustands derselben in Ansehung der rückständigen Landeszinsen und der im Kriege gemachten Schulden, schließlich Aufzeigung der Beratschlagungen und Beschlüsse der letzten Landtage, um der Schuldenlast abzuhelfen / Abschnitt B, in welchem man zur Beantwortung der vom Clero secundario angebrachten Klage selbst schreitet, zur deutlichen Darstellung des 'Ungrunds' derselben ( u. a. den Schloßbau betreffend, Demolirung der Stadtwälle, Erbauung der neuen Brücke, Erbauung eines Pulvermagazins, Das Geschenk meiner Landstände nach dem Brande meiner Residenz zu Bonn ). - Zuletzt folgen die 62 Anlagen ( betreffend Vorgänge und Dokumente aus den Jahren 1758 - 1777 ), u. a.
