Oberst, war in der ersten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts mehrere Jahre in Aachen schriftstellerisch tätig und besass eine bedeutende Gemäldesammlung'. Verfasser auch mehrerer historischer Abhandlungen, besonders zur spanischen Geschichte, 'ausserdem zahlreiche Gedichte'. Nach Crous/Falter 254 'K.P.(!), von Schepeler (Initialen bedeuten aber: 'Königl. Preuss.' ); im Verlag J.A. Mayer publizierte er demnach von 1827-33. Verf. nicht bei Kosch, DLL und nicht bei Freimuth, Aachener Dichter. Lt GBV (Lebensdaten: 1780-1849) publizierte er noch 1848 in Aachen. Arens/Janssen Nr 245. Sprache: Deutschu 0,116 gr.

La Guerra d'indipendenza spagnola (la Peninsular War), narrata nella presente opera fu il più grande conflitto delle guerre napoleoniche, combattuto nella penisola iberica da una alleanza di Spagna, Portogallo e Regno Unito contro il Primo Impero francese. La guerra ebbe inizio quando l'esercito francese occupò la Spagna nel 1808 e terminò nel 1814 con la sconfitta delle truppe napoleoniche ma con il totale dissesto dell'economia di Spagna e Portogallo, crisi che portò ad un periodo di guerre civili fra liberalismo ed assolutismo protrattosi fino al 1850 e all'indipendenza dalla Spagna delle antiche Colonie spagnole d'America e del Brasile dal Portogallo.
