ORIGINAL-ÖLGEMÄLDE (Gemälde 82,5 x 103,5 cm, Craquele, Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren) gerahmt in breiter goldener Holzleiste der Zeit (Bruno Gey, Elberfeld, gesamt H 1,21 x 1,42 m, der Rahmen mittig noch mit einer Holzleiste verstärkt), unten rechts eigenhändig signiert O. SEITZ MOTIV : Trauernde Mutter am Krippenbett, links ein älteres Mädchen (wohl die Schwester) (SEHR SELTEN in dieser Größe, bekannt ist er für seine Werke in kleinem, teilweise im Miniaturformat !).

Condizione: guter Zustand. Feder in Schwarz, über Bleistift, mit schwarzer Feder umrandet, auf Velin, rechts unten bezeichnet und datiert Rom d. 21ten Aprill (sic!) 1831.", rechts unten von fremder Hand mit Bleistift bezeichnet P. v. Cornelius". Darstellungsgröße 19,5:15,5 cm, Blattgröße 23,3:18,2 cm. Provenienz: Johann Georg, Prinz von Sachsen, Dresden, Lugt 1466. Nach erstem Malunterricht in seiner Heimatstadt, bezog Anschütz die Akademie in Dresden, wo er in das Atelier des Historien- und Porträtmalers Ferdinand Hartmann (1774-1842) eintrat. Der Ruf der unter Peter von Cornelius (1783-1867) aufblühenden Akademie lockte ihn 1822 nach Düsseldorf und folgte diesem auch 1826 nach München. Dort entstand seine erste selbständige Arbeit Das Urteil des Midas", ein Deckenbild im großen Odeonssaal. 1830/31 unternahm er im Auftrag König Ludwigs I. eine Studienreise nach Neapel, die ihn sicher auch nach Rom führte. Seine innige religiöse Überzeugung führte ihn bald zu religiösen Stoffen. Zu seinen gelungenen Werken zählt eine Himmelfahrt Mariae" in der Stadtpfarrkirche zu Furth im Walde/Ostbayern. Zusammen mit Johann Georg Hiltensperger (1806-1890) und Alexander Strähuber (1814-1882) leitete er 36 Jahre lang den Zeichenunterricht an der Münchner Akademie.
