I tre studiosi forniscono un resoconto degli effetti di diversi veleni somministrati a vari animali, in prevalenza rane. L'abate Vassalli Eandi (Torino, 1761-ivi, 1825), nipote dello scienziato Giuseppe Antonio, fu professore di fisica a Tortona e all'Università della propria città, dove ebbe come allievo l'Avogadro. Francesco Rossi, nato a Torino nel 1769, ivi morto nel 1841, fu medico nonché direttore della classe di scienze fisico-matematiche dell'Accademia delle Scienze.
