Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. Illustrated with B&W photographs, color charts (illustratore). 2nd Edition. Improved second edition with "more illustrations and a chart of silver dollars," the author acknowledging that "In the first (1936) edition the weakest point was the section on silver coins." Further, "Some dollar-like medallions have been included in the list and shown in illustrations. Some may care to collect these and some may not." The photos are indeed useful, as are the many translations offered of Chinese inscriptions. We find no warning here about counterfeits, although fakes (including those struck in base metals) now abound -- apparently this was not yet a major concern for collectors in the early stages of the hobby in the 1930s. The final 63 pages comprise a color-coded list or chart of the dynasties of China, with marginal comments placing these reigns in the context of events occurring simultaneously in the Western world. Reduced from $380.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Fourth Edition. FOURTH EDITION, 1965. This is a scarce volume; when Coole began collecting Chinese coins of the 20th Century, placing them in their proper historical setting was very difficult. He made an alphabetical list of all his coins plus those of another collector; then after extensive research of three Chinese works and a Japanese book, he added coins with dates. This comprehensive volume not only references Chinese coins but the dynasties from which they came. The photographs are the actual coin size; maps show locations of coins in China's history; a color Historical Chart helps place coins in their proper background. Laid in is a Summary Chart of Chinese History.Hardbound. White boards with color graphic, title in red. viii, Bibliography, 189 pp. Full refund if not satisfied.
