A collection of extracts by different authors who each make the case in support of public worship. This pamphlet was published following the rejection of a "public tax in favor of religious Ministers" by the Convention of Maine. In the Preface, an unnamed author discloses their hope that the movement forwarding Christianity and public worship will spread to nearby states from Maine. The authors of the extracts include Anna Barbauld (1743-1825), Joseph Fawcett (c. 1758-1804), Archdeacon Payley (William Paley; 1743-1805), Jacques Necker (1732-1804), the Supreme Court of Massachusetts, and Thomas Belsham (1750-1829).
