Zwei Tage danach wird er auf politischen Druck hin suspendiert. Man verwehrt ihm Zugang zu den Unterlagen seiner Studie, und erteilt ihm Redeverbot. Seitdem ist Pusztai zu einem der profiliertesten Verfechter einer verantwortungsvollen Genetik geworden.
