Zwei Tage danach wird er auf politischen Druck hin suspendiert. Man verwehrt ihm Zugang zu den Unterlagen seiner Studie, und erteilt ihm Redeverbot. Seitdem ist Pusztai zu einem der profiliertesten Verfechter einer verantwortungsvollen Genetik geworden. Während der wissenschaftliche Mainstream unbeirrt an der unzureichend untersuchten Technologie festhält, äußert Pusztai weiterhin Bedenken gegen die Genmanipulation. In 'Sicherheitsrisiko Gentechnik' beleuchtet er die Rollen von Konzernen und Politik und deren indirekte Einflussnahme über die Finanzierung auf die Ergebnisse der Genforschung. Er liefert Vorschläge für eine effektive, wissenschaftlich seriöse Forschung im Dienste der Sicherheit von Mensch und Natur.
