Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Good. First Cheap Edition & First Printing. The original dust jacket houses this book. It states to the front cover: In a long review "The Medical Press" said: "To break down the barriers of legally - entrenched orthodoxy and attain to wealth and titular distiction while still young enough to enjoy his success, is in any field a remarkable performance; in the field of medicine it is almost miraculous. Disraeli's conquest of the proudest aristocracy in Europe almost pales in comparison. . . Sir Herbert Barker has accomplished a social tour de force, and his very restrained account of it all is a valuable contribution to a certain side of the history of his time." There is a 2 inch chip to the rear top of the dustjacket. Few small chips to the extremities in general. Repaired to rearside. Now housed in a removable archival sleeve. Red cloth boards, with faded colour in general. Firmly bound to inner page block. There are sixteen full page illustrations and these are all present. Light browning to pages, otherwise all pages are clean and tightly bound. - Our orders are shipped within 1 or 2 business days. - Thanks for your interest.

Aggiungi al carrelloPaper. Condizione: Good. First Edition. Three Original Hand Written and Signed Letters by English Manipulative Surgeon Sir Herbert Atkinson Barker. Dated between 1925-1928. All letters are quite long and discuss his work and articles. All from his home in Italy. Sir Herbert Atkinson Barker 1869-1950 was an English manipulative surgeon. He developed a highly successful technique, specialising in knee and other damaged joints both in the top sportsmen and the general public. He advocated the avoidance of surgery. However, his methods were never formally approved by the medical establishment. Because of opposition towards a Lambeth degree or honorary degree for him, he was instead honored with a knighthood in 1922, nominally for services in World War I. In the 1920s he visited Doctor's Cave Beach Club in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and was most impressed by the curative powers of the waters. His subsequent articles about the beach lead to it becoming a popular destination for those seeking cures, and this was the start of the tourist industry in Montego Bay. He wrote Leaves from My Life: Reminiscences by the famous Manipulative Surgeon, published in 1927. Various Sizes. Condition is good. Light folding creases. More images can be taken upon request. Ref18815. Signed by Author(s).
