Sin embargo, siguiendo las diferentes ediciones sucesivamente modificadas de su gramática, podemos obtener más información. En la primera de ellas, "Arte para aprender facilmente a leer, escrivir y en poco tiempo hablar la lengua francesa", Lyon, 1672, donde escondió su nombre bajo sus siglas P. B., afirmó que llevaba 8 años en Madrid, así que debió llegar sobre 1664. Al poco debió trasladarse a Zaragoza porque en 1673 publica allí un nuevo libro, conceptuado y expuesto como 'Gramática', sin mención alguna a la previa publicación del 'Arte' en Lyon(1). No cabe duda de que el autor de ambas fue la misma persona porque un elogio al autor en la edición de Lyon le llama Pedro y porque la estructura y contenido textual de los primeros capítulos en ambas obras son idénticos. En Zaragoza posiblemente estuvo beneficiado por Pedro de Guzmán, III marqués de Montealegre, o de su mujer, la III condesa de Villaumbrosa, no solo porque le dedica a ella tanto la edición de 1673 como una traducción de unas memorias(2), sino porque Billet reaparece en Madrid en 1678, exactamente el año de la muerte del marqués, y porque así lo recuerda Jean de Vayrac en 1708, en su "Disertación sobre las gramáicas de Maunory y de Sobrino", incluida como introducción a su "Nouvelle grammaire espagnolle", diciendo (f. eii r) que Billet "lleva ya 40 años enseñando francés a los caballeros de la corte de Madrid entre el aplauso general" Pues bien, justo antes de reaparecer en Madrid, publica en Bruselas en 1677 esta segunda edición de la gramática que ofrecemos, donde reforma completamente la segunda parte de lo editado en Zaragoza "de la construcción de las frases en francés" y aumenta notablemente el repertorio de frases hechas y fórmulas de educación más comunes. Pero, repitiendo la rápida sucesión que dio a las ediciones de Lyon y Zaragoza, en 1678 voverá a publicar la gramática, esta vez en Madrid(3), conservando el contenido de la edición de Bruselas, precediéndolo de una "Disertación crítica contra el Arte de la lengua francesa publicado por Juan Pedro Jarón" y añadiéndole una novedosa tercera parte dedicada al arte poética. Curiosamente la "Disertación" se inicia con una crítica del empleo de la palabra 'Arte', cuyo uso había escondido tras el inicio de su carrera.
