The boards are rubbed and lightly soiled and have a 1cm wide strip across the top of the front board which appears to be black marker. The rear hinge is weakened but holding well. A strip of about 1 cm has been cut away from the top of the front free endpaper. The pages are lightly age tanned but clean and in very good order. Scans available if required.

Many of the blank pages and some text pages have handwritten related notes. The top part blank margin of the title page partly cut away with ink name underneath, R.W Thsiuces ? Old repair to the front advert page. Recased in the original binding with spine relayed, fading to the cloth. "Based in part on Lt Col Sladens "Principals of Gunnery" and an article on breech loaders by W.P. Marshall" etc. These H.M.S.O hand books seldom appear in good condition and quite scarce more so with manuscript notes. Riling 1141.
