Brummer:) "'Scenograf - det okända yrket' - så lyder arbetsnamnet på den utställning som Gunilla Palmstierna-Weiss visar på Waldemarsudde hösten 1995. Den slutgiltiga titeln 'Fragment av helheter' klingar kanske vackrare, men i ett väsentligt avseende är arbetsnamnet fortfarande användbart. Ty avsikten har varit att fördjupa förståelsen för den komplicerade och krävande process som är själva förutsättningen för skådespelets visuella uttryck. Det kan synas självklart att scenografin är av avgörande betydelse för teaterns uttrycksbärande form. Men betänker vi att scenografen lätt och tanklöst kan förväxlas med dekoratören inser vi samtidigt behovet av att påminna om skillnaden mellan att tolka och utsmycka - skillnaden mellan att aktivt medverka i skådespelets gestaltning av skådespelets visuella symbolik, och att skapa attraktiva men sekundära ramverk. Gunilla Palmstierna-Weiss är en av våra verkligt betydande scenografer. Man kan därför knappast föreställa sig en bättre vägvisare i scenografins värld. Att hon utgår från sin egen genomtänkta och väldokumenterade produktion gör hennes utställning desto märkligare. Och med sina texter har hon sannerligen bekräftat att scenografens yrke berör det mesta i teaterns liv".
