The story of a deaf, mute Chinese girl with a Mongolian father and Tibetan mother, rescued by missionaries Mildred Cable and Francesca French in China around 1925. Sold into begging, she was found suffering and brought to the missionaries, who renamed her Ai Lien, but called her 'Topsy'.
