Campbell (1885-1948) set the land speed record nine times between 1924 and 1935, several of these at Daytona Beach in Florida. It is not clear whether Campbell visited Daytona in 1936, though that was the year that Sig Haugdahl established the car race at Daytona after speed record attempts had moved to Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah (where Campbell attained another speed record in 1935).…
