Bernardino Passeri (1540-1590) e Aliprando Caprioli (1540 c. - 1590 c.) furono gli artisti che disegnarono e incisero questa straordinaria serie di episodi della vita di S. Benedetto. Il titolo è racchiuso da bordura formata da 15 vignette inerenti al Santo. Legatura coeva o di poco posteriore in piena pergamena con filettature concentriche in oro e fregi agli angoli. Al centro degli stessi sono dipinte delle armi araldiche (non ancora identificate) racchiuse in ovale in oro e contornate da una banda condivisa ''In lumine Tuo videbimus lumen'' (tratto dai Salmi, 35:10; in epoca più recente divenne il Motto della Columbia University). La serie costituisce un capolavoro dell'incisione del secondo cinquecento italiano ed è estemamente rara. In addition to this there are portraits of Tamerlane, Ottoman sultan Bayezid I, Skanderbeg and Hayreddin Barbarossa. Each portrait has a leaf of text in Italian describing the figure in the image.
