Neu -Johann Melchior Molter (1696-1765), Komponist der »Miniatur-Opern«, stand von 1719 - 1733 und von 1743 bis zu seinem Tode im Dienst der Markgrafen Carl Wilhelm von Baden-Durlach und seinem Enkel Carl Friedrich mit Dienstsitz im Karlsruher Schloss. Er war zunächst als Geiger, später als Kapellmeister der Hofkapelle angestellt. Die erste wie auch die beiden anderen zu Herzen gehenden Cantaten dieser CD von Johann Melchior Molter sind eigentlich kleine Opernszenen: Arien, häufig in da capo-Form, umrahmen ein Rezitativ. In der ersten Cantate folgt auf einen für die Sängerin technisch anspruchsvollen A-Teil ein kurzer B-Teil, nach dem Rezitativ wird der A-Teil wiederholt. Die Handlung: Für die Geliebte wäre es leichter, den Tod des Geliebten zu ertragen, als dass er ihr untreu wäre. Der Text der Arie stammt von Apostolo Zeno und ist auch in dem von Leonardo Leo vertonten »Vologeso« enthalten. Der Rezitativtext kommt in dieser Quelle nicht vor und stammt vermutlich von Molter. Die Intension der Hofcapelle Carlsruhe ist, die Musik des Karlsruher Hofes in verschiedenen Besetzungen und mit historischen Instrumenten wieder zur Aufführung zu bringen. So liegen in der Badischen Landesbibliothek zahlreiche Kompositionen in Handschriften vor, die seit ihrer Entstehungszeit nicht mehr erklungen sind.
