Fotografia
Vintage studio still photograph from the 1950 film, showing actors Barbara Stanwyck, Gilbert Roland, and Blanche Yurka. With a date stamp reading 12 AUG 25 50 on the bottom left corner of the verso, along with a Paramount blindstamp. Based on the 1948 novel by Niven Busch. A tense, vengeful Western which owes as much to archetypes of Greek tragedy and Shakespearean drama as it does to the conventions of the genre, following a rancher's strong-willed daughter who seeks revenge on her father for the wrongful hanging of her best friend. One of the few films in the noir canon that is also a Western. Set in New Mexico, shot on location in Arizona. 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus, with a small closed tear to the top edge, repaired with white paper tape on the verso. Criterion Collection 435. Pitts 1478. Scorsese, A Personal Journey Through American Movies. Vintage studio still photograph from the 1960 film. Extremely watchable trash, a big-budget film with lowdown agenda, and the last film in which Elizabeth Taylor, who won an Oscar for her performance, could have been accurately described as young and radiant. Something of an American answer to De Sica's "Madame De." with the object in question being a fur coat rather than a pair of earrings. Shot on location in New York. 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus, with extensive annotations to the verso in red felt-tipped ink, blue ink, and manuscript graphite.

Collection of 4 vintage studio still photographs from the 1948 film noir. An interesting historical artifact in that each of these has a label with a corrected title reading "They Live By Night" pasted over the original release title, "The Twisted Road." One of the four photos has this label roughly removed in a demonstrative fashion (see images). Based on Edward Anderson's 1937 novel "Thieves Like Us," about an escaped convict who falls in love with a woman who nurses him back to health after he is injured in a robbery. Nicholas Ray's directorial debut, a "doomed lovers" tale that is considered by many to be a forerunner to "Bonnie and Clyde" (1967). Generally 10 x 8 inches. Very Good plus to Near Fine. Criterion Collection 880. Grant US. Rosenbaum 1000. Selby US. Selby US Canon. Silver and Ward Classic Noir. Spicer US.
