Soft cover. Condizione: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Beijing, Chang Ye Ken [editor], 1982. Folio, 12 @ 14" x10 " prints from Chi Pai-shih works, held in a simple folding paper folio with a print reproduced on its front, as well. Reproduced subtly, apparently photographically on unpretentious non-glossy paper. Prints are near fine to fine, enclosing folio show a bit of light dust and a minor perimeter wear, close to near fine itself. An unusual and scarce offering of the works of Chi Pai-shih (1861-1951), a celebrated Chinese painter whose simple life and attitude is expressed in his art. For a 1960 retrospective on him, De Young Gallery curator Alice Boney wrote "[Chi's] life was a dedicated one, a ceaseless struggle to capture for himself and the world in the simplest, truest terms the beauty and inner spirit of all that lived and grew about him." Papier leicht vergilbt / fleckig.
