It features a half body portrait of Mao in the centre waving benevolently at the large cheering crowd, the sun with its bold rays and dozens of flying flags extending behind him. Three banners of cheering slogans lifted by balloo…ns in the air. Two people hold a cloth decorated sign showing the character "double happiness" [?] in the lower centre, and other two people hold a sign showing a propaganda slogan on the lower left, many other people hold the Little Red Booklet of Mao's quotations up high in the air, some others are cheering while holding musical instruments. Very good. Text in Chinese. Papercut sheet measures 71.1 x 51.2cm. Text lower edge reads "The mountains and rivers of the motherland are all red". By November 1968, 29 Revolutionary Committees were established excluding Taiwan. The central government, therefore, decided to celebrate this remarkable achievement with issue a set of stamps titled "The mountains and rivers of the motherland are all red/The whole country is red" [??????? /???????]. Text on the board lower left section translates "Revolutionary committees are good". Texts on banners are cheering slogans for the Chairman Mao and the Communist Party of China.

It was published specifically for circulation in the West and consists of 14 parts. The present work contains the first 4. However, any volume in this series is exceptionally rare, a…s we have not been able to find another copy in sales records of the past 100 years.The Chinese Revolution of 1911 is an important event in Chinese history, as it resulted in the establishment of the Republic of China. The Revolution was preceded by decade of revolts, since Chinese citizens had already been dissatisfied with the rule of the Qing dynasty (1636-1912) for some time. The Revolution started in October 1911 with the Wuchang Uprising, after which similar revolts broke out across the country. The Qing court then initiated negotiations with the revolutionaries. Both parties came to the agreement that the emperor, who was just 6-years old, had to abdicate in February 1912. Revolutionary statesman Sun Yat-Sen (1866-1925) became the first provisional president.The present work offers an authentic pictorial record of the first revolts. The work contains numerous portraits of important leaders of the Revolution and members of the Qing court, grim photographic illustrations of the battlefields in Wuchang (now the Wuchang District of Wuhan) and Hankow (or Hankou), and images of the attack on Nanking (now Nanjing), including the preparations and the aftermath.The binding shows very slight signs of wear, the gutters of the front and back endpapers are weakened, causing the binding to be wobbly, but the boards are still attached. Text in Chinese. ??? [Gu Weiping] was born in 1924. He worked as a senior carpenter and supervising 5-6 junior carpenters for a Japanese owned company between 1943 and 1945. Some cash and ration stamps for food and clothing and household goods were confiscated during the Cultural Revolution. After investigating into Gu Weiping's work and personal background, a decision was made to return cash (RMB ?93.20) and grain ration stamps worth of 58 Jin (29 kg) to Gu.

For catalogues issued in the 1960s and 1970s, WorldCat records a total of only nine copies. Shortly after the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the All-China Esperanto Assoc…iation (later renamed the "China Esperanto League") was formed in Shanghai, and in the 1950s the League hosted speakers from around the world. While foreign contacts ceased during the Cultural Revolution, the League used its network to promote Maoism to Esperanto movements abroad. The present catalogue offers for sale, at very cheap prices, volumes of Mao's Selected Works as well as pamphlets of his speeches and major essays. At the rear, an order form is provided for customers to complete and return to Beijing by post. Though not marked as such, the present copy is from the library of Paul Pickowicz (b. 1945), a notable scholar of modern Chinese culture and society. In 1971, Pickowicz was one of 15 American scholars invited to visit the mainland, the delegation being the first group of American academics to set foot in Mao's China. Duodecimo, pp. 18. Stapled as issued, original pale orange wrappers, front cover lettered in black and red above red five-pointed star. A few marks to wrappers, touch of foxing, contents else clean and bright. A near-fine copy of this fragile publication.

Aggiungi al carrelloFirst edition, sole printing, with an appealing Sinological provenance, of this scarce Esperanto translation of the New Year's editorial issued by state media in 1971, with WorldCat recording only two institutional copies. Dramatic political changes in China caused by the fight of Mao's heir apparent left this revolutionary call… to arms dangerously outdated by the end of the year. During the Cultural Revolution, newspaper editorials to mark the Chinese New Year were important opportunities for party propagandists to outline the triumphs of the preceding year and set the political tone of the coming months. The 1971 editorial, co-written by editors from the country's three largest political publications (The People's Daily, Red Flag, and Liberation Army Daily), heaped praise on Mao's leadership but also highlighted the contribution of Lin Biao, Mao's designated successor, to the country's many political "victories." Yet, at the time these words were written, a considerable rift was developing between Mao and Lin. Eight months later, Lin would die in a plane crash while fleeing China out of concern for his safety. State media later claimed that Lin's son was plotting to assassinate Mao. Almost certainly, remaining copies of the editorial in Esperanto or any other language were quickly withdrawn and pulped. Though not marked as such, the present copy is from the library of Paul Pickowicz (b. 1945), a notable scholar of modern Chinese culture and society. Twenty-nine local revolution committee's names are shown on the papercut. Slogan on left reads: "Working hard to achieve a remarkable achievement in preparation for the opening of the 9th National Congress of the Communist Party of China./Grasp the revolution, promote production." This indicates the papercut was created before April 1st, 1969 when the 9th National Congress was held. Slogans on right reads, "Grasp the revolution, promote production./The working class must dictate all affairs.".
