Spine slanted. Rubbing and wear to bottom edges of covers with small losses of cloth. Milder rubbing to top edges. Previous owner bookplate to front pastedown. First large fold-out map has a long tear with no loss of paper, it does not prevent the map from being used. This book was written by the German Army, the Great General Staff in Berlin. It describes and analyzes the second half of the Second Boer War fought between the British Empire and the Boers of South Africa. This particular volume covers the events from March to September, 1900. The Germans were intensly interested in the Boer War because they knew a massive European war was coming and they needed to understand the abilities of the British Army, perhaps the most battle-tested force in the world. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 374 pages.
