Colour photographs and paintings throughout, b/w photographs and illustrations. Red boards, spine titled in gilt. Fine new copy in dust-wrapper. The lives and work of two outstanding wildlife artists, David Morrison Reid-Henry and Ron David Digby, linked by a shared passion for falconry and birds of prey. Dr David Glynne Fox, author of Garden of Eagles and Eagle Falconry, presents a discursive account of the art and history of these two talented painters. David Reid-Henry, son of bird-artist George M Henry, was already well-established as an artist and illustrator when the young Ron Digby moved with his family to live next door to him. Reid-Henry nurtured Ron's interest in birds of prey and in painting, seeing him develop into a respected falconer and a world-renowned bird-artist. Many of these illustrations have never previously been seen in print. Most of them are held in private collections around the world, and David Fox has searched tirelessly to compile this extraordinary tribute to two great artists, drawing on interviews with Ron Digby, on articles published by David Reid-Henry, and on the knowledge and collections of fellow-falconers. An interesting and finely illustrated work. PREVIOUS PRICE GBP 35.00.…

"In his new book, David Glynne Fox takes the reader on a historical journey into the not too distant past, for eagle falconry is relatively new to Europe and especially the United Kingdom. The appearance of this work is timely because only a mere handful of the earlier devotees still survive and it is due to these individuals that much of the work contained herein has been extracted and .not lost to posterity and falconry history. .The bulk of this work will be new to its readers." This is David Fox's account of both his own exploits as a falconer, and the exploits of other eagle falconers, with a lot of material on the history of eagle falconry in the United Kingdom. A readable and interesting book which gives an immediate overview of the contemporary British eagle falconry scene and its characters. Though not a limited edition as such, only 500 copies of this first edition have been printed. The Foreword is by Jemima Parry-Jones. .…
