Der deutsche, später in Kopenhagen wirkende Mathematiker Carl Ferdinand Degen (1766 - 1825) war Mathematiklehrer des Kronprinzen und späteren Königs Christian VII. Er wurde 1800 Mitglied der dänischen Akademie der Wissenschaften und 1814 Professor für Mathematik an der Universität Kopenhagen. Wohl aus der Bibliothek des bekannten dänischen Astronomen Ejnar Hertzsprung (1873 - 1967), mit dessen handschriftlichem Namenszug auf dem Vorsatzblatt. Darunter ein handschriftlicher Eintrag zum späteren Besitzer, ein gewisser Frank Robbins, Esp, der das Buch vom Sohn des Ejnar Hertzsprung geschenkt bekommen hat. Dazu ein zweiblättriger Brief, wohl von Frank Robbins mit Errata-Berechnungen zum vorliegenden Werk von Degen der einige Fehler aufführt, dazu wenige Anstreichungen im Buch. Mit einer weiteren privaten für uns nicht nachweisbaren wohl dänischen Widmung auf dem Vorsatzblatt verso. Vorderdeckel lose. Durchgehend etwas braunfleckig, Titelblatt und vorderer Innendeckel gestempelt.
